Addison is the small town at Belt Line Road and the Dallas North Tollway, about eight miles north of our office. Our route is the Tollway to Belt Line Road. The Texas State Historical Association records that Addison incorporated in 1953 to avoid annexation by Dallas, and its airport followed in the 1950s.
Much of Addison's housing is attached. The Town's own planning documents describe Addison Circle as a mixed-use neighborhood of mostly rental apartments, with a cluster of townhome and condominium ownership between Morris Avenue and Airport Parkway that includes the Townhomes of District A, Aventura and Meridian Square.
Shared walls and compact lots shape the garage work. A rattling chain drive is heard next door, so we lean toward belt drives and wall-mounted openers, and an owners' association may have a say in the door style. The Town's permit page says remodeling that enlarges an opening for a door or window needs a permit, while replacing fixtures does not, so a like-for-like swap and a wider opening are two different questions.
